Error 6513

  • Short Text: Exit Type, Below Compulsory Age, is expected.

  • Long Text: The exit date is prior to the student's 6th birthday. BCA is the only valid exit type for students below age 6. If exit date is after the count date of the collection year, evaluate the exit date as if it was null.

  • Business Rules:

    • Logic--(1)  This rule is not run for Possible Full-Term Dropout (FTD) records.

  • How to Fix: Verify the student’s age and birthday, checking (but not copying) a legal document such as a birth certificate, if necessary. If the student had not yet turned six by the exit date, you must remove the invalid exit type and enter BCA, the only valid exit type for students five or younger. However, if the birth date was entered in error and the student actually turned six prior to the exit date, you can keep the exit type but must correct the birth date.

  • Example: Clara’s record is throwing an error that she should have a BCA exit type. District Deb researches the situation and finds that Clara’s birth date shows she was still only five at the time of the exit date. Even though Clara transferred schools, Deb knows because she is under six, Clara’s only valid exit type is BCA, Below Compulsory Age. She clears the TC and enters BCA to resolve the error.
