Warning 6690

  • Short Text: The 'Action Length' exceeds 5 days for Out-of-School Suspension.

  • Long Text: The 'Action Length' exceeds 5 days for Out-of-School Suspension. 'Action Length', days removed this school year, for a single out of school suspension should not exceed 5 days unless notice of expulsion hearing has been sent.

  • Business Rules:

    • Calculation--Action Length (DisciplineAction endpoint) > 5 school days AND Discipline Type (DisciplineAction endpoint) =  Out-of-School Suspension, then throw it.

    • Logic--Action Length CAN NOT > 5 days in same school year for single out-of-school suspension

  • How to Fix: Check which discipline action the student was given and what the discipline action length was determined to be, reviewing incident reports as needed. If the student has an out-of school suspension only, remove the invalid length and enter a correct value, ensuring the length is less than 5 days. If the length exceeds 5 days, you will need to modify the discipline descriptor (action) accordingly unless an expulsion hearing has been set. In that case, if the length is correct, acknowledge the warning.

  • Example: Sarah’s record is throwing an error that the action length exceeds 5 days for her out-of-school suspension. District Deb checks into the matter and discovers that Sarah received an out-of-school suspension with a length of 10 days awaiting an expulsion hearing. Because Deb sees the value of 10 days is correct, she acknowledges the warning but doesn’t alter any data.
