Warning 6696

  • Short Text: Student has multiple discipline actions (e.g., OSS, ISS, Expulsion, etc.) for the same enrollment period and incident date(s) which appear to cover the same date range. In some cases this could be a valid scenario (e.g., where 0.5 of a day is involved). If the scenario is valid then 'ACKNOWLEDGE' this WARNING. If the data is incorrect, fix the issue in your vendor product and resend the data to WISEdata.

  • Business Rules:

    • Logic--Looks at calendar dates, looking for overlapping disciplineActions (FYI could be within same disciplineIncident OR different disciplineIncidents)

  • How to Fix: Review the student’s discipline incident information, including the incident dates, discipline actions, discipline action dates, as well as associated enrollments. Check incident documentation, as necessary. Even though a student can have multiple discipline actions attached to a single incident, those actions and their action dates should not overlap. After verifying the discipline date, remove the unneeded discipline action and retain the accurate one or modify the discipline dates so that they don’t overlap. Acknowledge the warning.

  • Example: District Deb sees a warning that Maureen has multiple discipline actions covering the same time period. Deb checks out the situation and discovers Maureen assaulted another girl at school with a knife. For this incident she was given an out-of-school suspension until an expulsion hearing, thereby associating both a suspension and an expulsion to the one incident. Deb knows this is fine, so long as the dates don’t overlap. Deb verifies the dates of the suspension and expulsion and then corrects the expulsion to its accurate start date six days after the incident on the day following the end of the five-day suspension. After making sure there is now no overlap, she acknowledges the warning.
