Error 6502

  • Short Text: Invalid Exit Type for transfer within your district, CMO, or system.

  • Long Text: Your district/agency provided Exit Type 'Transfer to another school covered by WISEdata; known to be continuing.' Intra-district (intra-system) transfer to a new school in the submitting district was expected (expected transfer district = submitting district). The exit type is invalid because your district has not submitted a new school enrollment record in WISEdata. Submit a new school enrollment record in WISEdata, if appropriate.

  • Business Rules:

    • Logic--(1) This is an intra-district transfer. (2) This error is thrown only for records where the expected transfer district, system, or school (only for non-system schools) is equal to the submitting district. Effectively the user is submitting an expected transfer within the same agency. This is not valid. Instead the new enrollment needs to be entered. (3)  This rule is not run for Possible Full-Term Dropout (FTD) records.

  • How to Fix: Check to see whether or not the student in question transferred to a different school within your district. If so, verify enrollment start dates and attendance, and then create a new enrollment record for the student at the new school. If you have no record of the student transferring to a different school in your district, then do not create the new enrollment, as the student may be a dropout or have transferred elsewhere. You could try to contact the former school to see if they have any more information about how to best exit the student. Then you must modify the current, invalid exit type to an appropriate one.

  • Example: District Deb notices an error on Wayne’s record that he has an invalid exit type. Deb looks into the stated expected transfer within her district. She finds that Wayne exited History Elementary school January 11, and History Elementary entered that he was doing an intra-district transfer to Literature Elementary. However, after some research and proof from Wayne’s parents, Deb finds that Wayne actually transferred to a private school in town, not one covered by WISEdata. Deb removes the invalid exit type and enters TNC to reflect Wayne’s transfer to a school not covered by WISEdata.
