Error 6596

  • Short Text: Invalid IDEA eligibility for student over age 21.

  • Long Text: Invalid IDEA eligibility for student over age 21. Student to Special Education program association should be reviewed and removed for students who turn age 21 before the beginning date of the school term.

  • Business Rules:

    • Calculation-- Age of student on start date of school year > 21 AND  IDEA eligible = Yes

  • How to Fix: Check the student’s age as well as when the exact birthday fell in comparison to the start of the school year. If the student turned 21 prior to the start of the school year, the student is too old to be IDEA eligible for the current school year. Only 21-year-old students can be IDEA eligible and serviced if they turn 21 during the current school year, not prior to it. Remove the student’s sSEPA submission and make sure the IDEA eligible field is marked No.

  • This data will be rejected by the data warehouse if the error isn’t cleared.

  • Example: Tyrese’s record is throwing an error that he has an invalid IDEA eligibility submitted. District Deb digs into the matter and sees that Tyrese turned 21 on August 31, which was close to the cutoff for the current school year but officially made him too old to be IDEA eligible this year. Deb changes his IDEA eligibility value to No and removes his sSEPA reporting to clear the error.
