Warning 6798

Short Text: Do not use deprecated course codes.

Long Text: DO NOT USE. Deprecated starting in 2018-19 school year. The 2017-18 code is deprecated and no replacement is provided by DPI. Districts have to download the 2018-19 courses from the DPI website. From the course download districts have to pick a course that is a potential match to the deprecated course and submit a course offering for the replaced course. To fix the error, delete the course offering submitted for the deprecated course.

Business Rule Logic: Throw if course offering is submitted for the code that has course identification system descriptor as 'deprecated'

Throw the rule on course offering if section does not exist for the course offering.
Throw the rule on Roster school level logical class if section exists for the course offering.

How to Fix: This warning alerts you that you've submitted a course code that has been archived starting in the 2018-19 school year. This SCED code worked in prior school years but will need to be replaced by the best match for an appropriate SCED 5 code. Use the Courses data element page and available download to review valid course code options that might work for the course. Replace the archived code with the one that most closely matches the course curriculum and then submit to WISEdata.

Example: District Deb receives a warning not to use deprecated course codes. She looks into the situation and sees that she has submitted a course code for a language class that was archived starting in the 2018-19 school year. Deb navigates to the Courses page and downloads the latest course .csv file to look for what the archived code may have been replaced by or to find a code that better matches the course content description. She replaces the deprecated course code with a new valid code.
